(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 29 – A phase of extreme severe weather in Italy has been confirmed, moving from the North and Tuscany toward the rest of Central Italy and locally the South, Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist and media manager for iLMeteo.it., said Friday.
The situation will continue to be monitored closely for another 24 hours, then, from Saturday afternoon, the sun will shine almost everywhere.
Specifically, the coils of severe weather, linked to former Hurricane Erin, still centered in the British Isles, will hit the North and Tuscany with even more violent phenomena in the next few hours, most likely in Lombardy, Triveneto, Eastern Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria, and Upper Lazio.
By the end of Friday, August 29, the severe weather will have reached the inland Marche region, all of Lazio, and Campania.
Late in the day, the most intense weather will impact mainly southern Lazio and Campania, where violent thunderstorms are expected.
Rain will continue to fall in patches across much of the country, with a resurgence of low-level weather also moving toward northwest Italy and Tuscany in the evening, after a brief respite.
On Saturday, the severe weather will move toward the Balkans, but will still affect Italy with widespread low-level weather.
Showers are expected, particularly in the Triveneto region, from Tuscany and Lazio, rapidly moving toward the Adriatic regions as far as Salento.
Rain will not fall on the major islands, and conditions will rapidly improve across Italy from the afternoon.
Finally, on Sunday, beautiful sunshine is expected almost everywhere, before further deterioration is expected in the evening in the Northwest due to the arrival of another low-pressure system linked to former Hurricane Erin, a cyclone still active between the British Isles and Iceland as normally happens in autumn.
