(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 29 – Recently appointed Italy coach Gennaro Gattuso on Friday named his first Azzurri squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Israel.
Italy will return to action on Friday, September 5th, in Bergamo against Estonia, and on Monday, September 8th, in Debrecen against Israel.
Former AC Milan and Italy midfielder Gattuso will make his debut as coach in Bergamo, having named 28 players for the training camp scheduled for Sunday at the Coverciano Training Center.
Liverpool defender Giovanni Leoni, Bologna midfielder Giovanni Fabbian, and Inter Milan striker Francesco Pio Esposito have all been called up for the first time, while Gianluca Mancini and Gianluca Scamacca are back in the Azzurri squad, more than a year after the European Championship in Germany.
