(ANSA) – ZAGABRIA, 30 AGO – Italy’s Ambassador to Croatia Paolo Trichilo went on a mission to Kutina and Ploštine to participate in the 11th edition of the “Giro di Kutina” race, organized by the local Community of Italians and co-financed by the Italian Union, which this year for the first time was granted the logo of the Day of Italian Sport in the World.
The mission also included a meeting with the Mayor of Kutina and a visit to the KLIK PAR company’s plant, where he was received by Piero Garbellotto, CEO of Garbellotto SpA, a Sacile-based company and a world leader in the production of barrels and barriques with a 250-year history.
Ambassador Trichilo also met with the Communities of Italians in Kutina and Ploštine, with the presence of the President and Secretary General of the People’s University of Trieste (UPT), Edvino Jerian and Fabrizio Somma, and the President of the Italian Union Maurizio Tremul. Today’s Italian Communities in Slavonia are descended from those who moved to the region beginning in 1876 at the time of the Habsburg Empire.
