(ANSA) – VILNIUS, 18 LUG – Italy’s ambassador to Lithuania, Emanuele de Maigret, and Guardia di Finanza Chief of Staff Giuseppe Arbore were received today in Vilnius by Lithuanian Interior Minister Wladyslaw Kondratowicz.
The main topics of discussion at the meeting were the implementation of bilateral cooperation and the strengthening of collaboration between Lithuanian and Italian law enforcement agencies in the fight against economic crimes, smuggling and money laundering.
Particular satisfaction was expressed with the entry into service from next fall at the Italian Embassy in Vilnius of Guardia di Finanza Colonel Scilli Bellomo, who will be in charge of analyzing and coordinating actions in the fight against crime even more effectively.
“Crime operates transnationally making rapid and coordinated responses necessary,” Kondratowicz said. “I am pleased that Italy is not only showing initiative but also strengthening cooperation by delegating its official to work in Lithuania. This is not only a sign of trust, but also a concrete solution that will enable us to fight organized crime, money laundering and smuggling even more effectively.”
