(ANSA) – BUENOS AIRES, 23 LUG – In an emotional and important gathering held at the residence of the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, Ambassador Fabrizio Lucentini hosted a special reception in honor of Elisabetta Riva, who concludes her exceptional tenure as director of Teatro Coliseo, the only theater owned by the Italian state outside the country’s borders and one of the main Italian-Argentine cultural meeting places.
During the ceremony, the Ambassador emphasized the “tireless dedication, artistic vision and commitment to excellence” that Riva imprinted during her directorship at Teatro Coliseo. Under his leadership, the theater has established itself as a benchmark for quality stage programming, integrating innovative proposals, promoting cultural exchange between Italy and Argentina and opening its doors to new audiences.
Among the most significant achievements of its work were: the aesthetic and technical renovation of the theater, which repositioned it as one of the most modern spaces in the city; the creation of the Italia XXI cycle, which brought the best of the contemporary production of the Italian theater, music, opera and dance scene closer to Argentine audiences; and the support of the “Divina Italia” cycle, the result of the collaboration between Teatro Colรณn, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires; as well as the active promotion of emerging artists and the strengthening of ties with local cultural institutions.
Elisabetta Riva will continue her professional career in Italy, where she has been appointed Superintendent of the prestigious Teatro Comunale di Bologna, one of the most important opera houses in Europe.
Also introduced during the event was Teatro Coliseo’s new director, Santiago Rosso, a cultural worker with long experience in stage and educational projects. His connection with the theater is long-standing: beginning as a spectator, later as a producer of important shows, presentations by the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, cycles such as Latina and Allegretto, and concerts such as that of Rava and Bollani in 2006, and for the past 13 years as an advisor to the Coliseum Foundation. The Ambassador gave Rosso a warm welcome, expressing his confidence that he will continue “the path of excellence and openness that distinguishes the Coliseum.” The event brought together important personalities from the cultural, institutional and artistic worlds, who celebrated this transition as a bridge between what has been achieved and what is to come, reaffirming the Teatro Coliseo as a living emblem of friendship between Italy and Argentina.
