(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 5 – Father Ibrahim Faltas, the Custodian of the Holy Land, expressed shock on Tuesday at the possibility that Israel could occupy Gaza.
“Palestinians have the right to remain in Gaza, the West Bank, and the territories attributed to them by international agreements and conventions,” Faltas told ANSA.
“They have the right to live, they have the right to exist as a people and as a recognized state.
“Anyone who does not recognize this must be held responsible and complicit in a massacre.
“Hunger, thirst, heat, the lack of healthcare and of every essential commodity, and the threat of losing one’s land are grave burdens on the world’s conscience.
“Those who can, and should, stop the shocking plan to dominate Gaza are watching in silence without feeling the duty to intervene to stop a crime and to affirm and guarantee the right to dignity and respect for the life of every human being.
“The winds of violence continue to blow over the already sorely tried Holy Land. When a truce, a ceasefire, and a hope for peace seem close, further, more serious actions and declarations are made, halting the difficult negotiations and related peace processes.
“Let us stop the hands that kill, let us stop the minds that destroy the hope of peace”. (ANSA).
