(ANSA) – TOKYO, 28 LUG – It took place on the sidelines of the Foodex Kansai 2025 fair, in western Japan, the promotion of the Consorzio di Tutela del Pecorino romano Dop, in collaboration with Ice-Agenzia per la promozione all’estero e l’internazionalizzazione delle imprese italiane. Taking advantage of the great promotional and commercial appeal of the Osaka Universal Expo-which will close its doors on Oct. 13-the consortium aims to expand business opportunities for Italian food companies in a square with high potential, and a market recognized as a great ‘connoisseur’ of the excellence of Italian cuisine.
“We are carrying out several projects around the world and one of the most important precisely in Japan,” Riccardo Pastore, director of the Consortium for the Protection of Pecorino Romano DOP, tells ANSA. “In this country we want to bring an increasing awareness of the qualitative value of our cheese; a value that also extends to the sphere of sustainability-which includes environmental protection, economic value, and in respect of continuous research.” During the fair, a gala ‘Aftershow’ networking party was also held at the Garden Oriental Hotel in downtown Osaka, attended by retailers, major distributors and importers. The consortium involves 25,000 employees and groups together about 8,600 farms in the area of origin, with nearly 230 million liters of sheep’s milk conferred for PDO cheese production and 39,000 tons of product. Seventy percent of production is exported for a value of about 300 million euros. The goal is to acquire new penetration spaces, intercept a wider and more varied target of trade visitors and strengthen the presence on the Kansai area, as well as the ho.re.ca. channel and, more generally, the catering world.
